I
have decided to refine my research and make it more focused in order to
achieve the exact type of photo I am aiming to take for the front
cover of my music magazine. Although some of the magazines i have found
in the 'indie' style are not specifically music ones, I have gathered
various actual music ones to combine with the others so that it is
clear of the type of photo i will take for my front cover.
These
three magazines are not specifically music magazines although they
include aspects of music in them, they are however in the correct style.
The first one has the pale faced model idea that i am going to have in
my own magazine and as well the colours are quite
basic and there are not many of them. Another focus that I have for my
model is wild hair which this one has. The second two have another
focus of mine in common which is hands touching the face and more
specifically the mouth. The 'material girl' one is less like the other
two in that the titles are not as bold and white but the background and
texts in all of them are similar and simple. the 'indie' and 'dazed'
magazines both have their models with dark and heavy eye makeup which I
think works really well with the genre and I am definitely considering
this in my own front cover image.
These
three magazines are all music magazines and although they are not
exactly the correct image i am looking to do they have some indie style
aspects. the 'under the radar' one has the right kind of colours and
title but the model is not exactly correct. The second and third are
mid-shots and i am looking to do a more close up shot but the makeup and
lighting on the models are better suited to what i want to do. The
title on the 'the fly' one is bold like the others in my previous
research and again it is not overloaded with too many colours. The third
is my particular favourite because the model has the same look in her
face as the 'INDIE' magazine one above which i like and think is very
eye-catching. Again in the third it has the right hair look for my music
magazine idea. The title in this one is my least favourite but i do
like the rest of the text and the way it is black and white against the
beige coloured wallpaper.
I
think that by combining the ideas I have found I now have a clear idea
of what i want my own music magazine to look like. My front cover image
will have...
- Bold eye make-up found particularly in these two-
- A model focus of the hands and face found in...
- A model focus of wild hair and pale face found in...
- A large bold title in balck or white found in...
- Lastly a simple background and only a few colours of text found in all of the above.
